Spanish Before You Know It (byki) Review
With over 2000 word and 500 phrases, BYKI is a great software to learn very basic Spanish. If you don’t feel like forking out $200 to learn Spanish, then this course might be perfect for you.
Software Features
This is one of the software that comes with Spanish Complete Edition. Inside you will learn words, phrases and also how to perfect your pronunciation and accent. There is also an MP3 accompaning audio that you can listen to on you ipod or any MP3 device.
You can also track yourself and see how you are improving with their graph system. It shows you how much Spanish you have learned and how much Spanish you have also forgotten. And allowing you to do courses that you can’t remember.
Spanish BYKI is a flash card system consisting of a 3 step process:
- Preview It: Both English and Spanish words as flash cards are shown
- Recognize It: Simply picking the correct meaning of the Spanish word
- Produce It: English phrases are presented and you have to type in the correct words
Course Effectiveness
This course is not as complete as we liked it to be. It mostly teaches you how to memorize words and phrases and does not actually teach you the fundamentals to creating your own sentences. However it’s one of the most effective courses we’ve reviewed in terms of learning words and remembering them. It’s also a lot of fun and very easy to learn.

Conclusion
If learning a few Spanish words and phrases is all you need then this is perfect for you. Mostly suited for travellers who need to learn essential Spanish to get around. This software can teach you to learn pretty fast if you put in the effort. However it is not a complete course so we do recommend you read “Tell Me More Spanish” if this is not what you are looking for.
